PV Sindhu Clinched The Singapore Open 2022 Title
Ace Indian shuttler & Olympic medallist PV Sindhu lifted the Singapore Open 2022 title after beating China's Wang Zhi Yi in the final of the women's singles category by 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 on Sunday. It was her third title of the season after Syed Modi International & Swiss Open BWF Super 300 titles back in January & March, respectively. Also, it was her maiden Super 500 badminton title of the 2022 season. Only Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, both women's shuttlers from India, have won the Singapore Open. Nehwal had won the crown back in 2010. overall, Sindhu also becomes the third Indian to win the Singapore Open title. Apart from Nehwal (2010), B Sai Praneeth won the singles title back in 2017.
Wang Zhi Yi won the opening two points of the contest to lead Sindhu 2-0. PV Sindhu, though, scored 11 points in a row to take a commanding 11-2 lead into halftime.
