PV Sindhu Lifted the Singapore Open 2022 Title 

Ace Indian shuttler & Olympic medallist PV Sindhu lifted the Singapore Open 2022 title after beating China's Wang Zhi Yi in the final of the women's singles category by 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 on Sunday. It was her third title of the season after Syed Modi International & Swiss Open BWF Super 300 titles back in January & March, respectively. Also, it was her maiden Super 500 badminton title of the 2022 season. Only Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, both women's shuttlers from India, have won the Singapore Open. Nehwal had won the crown back in 2010. overall, Sindhu also becomes the third Indian to win the Singapore Open title. Apart from Nehwal (2010), B Sai Praneeth won the singles title back in 2017.

First Set

Wang Zhi Yi won the opening two points of the contest to lead Sindhu 2-0. PV Sindhu, though, scored 11 points in a row to take a commanding 11-2 lead into halftime. Following the break, Zhy Yi broke the Indian Shuttler & picked up a couple of points however her horror show before the break allowed PV Sindhu to take a huge 10-point lead & claim the first set 21-9.

Second Set

In the second set, Wang Zhi Yi defeated Sindhu by scoring five points in a row after getting off blocks. Nevertheless, Sindhu of India broke her Chinese opponent to win two straight points before Zhi Yi broke Sindhu once more to further widen her lead and take an 11-3 advantage at halftime. Zhi Yi recovered after falling behind by five points at the half to get within two points. PV Sindhu, though, fought fiercely to hold onto her advantage. Each rally was determined by the smallest of margins, but when the dust settled, PV Sindhu was the victor. PV Sindhu won his maiden BWF Super 500 championship.

Final Match

By defeating Japan's Saena Kawakami in the semifinal match of the women's singles division of the Singapore Open 2022 on Saturday in Singapore, PV Sindhu moved to the championship match. In January of this year, Sindhu won the women's singles tournament at the Syed Modi International. At the Babu Banarasi Indoor Stadium, PV Sindhu beat Malvika Bansod in a 35-minute summit match with scores of 21-13, 21-16. In March India's top shuttler won the Swiss Open 2022 women's singles championship. in Basel's St. Jakobshalle stadium, Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand was beaten by Indian Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, in a 49-minute match on court 1 with scores of 21-16, 21-8. 

After defeating her in the round of 32 of the All England Open earlier this year, the Indian badminton player defeated her Chinese opponent for the second time in a row in this match. B Sai Praneeth, who won the men's singles title in 2017, was the latest Indian to win the Singapore Open. In 2010, Saina Nehwal won the women's singles championship. The Commonwealth Games 2022, which start on July 28 in Birmingham, UK, will be PV Sindhu's next task.
